What is an IGBT?

  • New-age IGBT power modules comprise a highly reliable and heat-resistant package. The optimization of the chip has realized a continuous operating temperature of 175 degrees Celsius.
  • An IGBT power semiconductor has a higher threshold gate-emitter voltage, needed to maintain the semiconductor device in saturation at the given collector current. So, the VGE should be at least 15 V.
  • An IGBT-based power semiconductor has a lower gate-emitter capacitance.
  • Voltage rating: Very high > 1kV
  • Input Drive: Voltage VGE 4-8V
  • Output Impedance: Low
  • Input Impedance: High
  • Current Rating: High > 500A
